Author copies of The Summer of Firsts and Lasts arrived at my house yesterday, and I celebrated with a BIG BOWL of Hagen Daaz coffee ice cream drenched Hershey’s syrup. Since the book is dedicated to them, I also incorporated a tradition my sisters and I established growing up, of mooshing everything up into a sort of mocha “soup.” Offering up a toast, I slurped away.
This is only one of the ice cream celebrations I’ve had at my house, however. April 2nd marked the official Thirty Days Until SoFaL, and I decided to spend each day with a different ice cream flavor. So far I’ve had chocolate chip cookie dough, lemon sorbet, Neopolitan, and the aforementioned coffee/chocolate soup. I’ve got my eye on a few flavors (Breyer’s mint chocolate chip, gingersnap maple gelato) and I may even MAKE some (my grape/rosemary sorbet is infamous), but am, seriously, taking suggestions.
